An independently developed onboarding tool could combine the identified onboarding settings and dimensions in the future. Of the five onboarding settings that were also identified in the categorization, telecommunication software and virtual environments predominated. Examples of the purposes and outcomes of these onboarding interventions included the transfer of information and the socialization of incoming students. According to our results, digital and virtual onboarding interventions were categorized into four onboarding dimensions: information interventions, socialization interventions, counseling interventions, and self-study interventions. The PRISMA-ScR Guidelines and the JBI Manual for Evidence Synthesis guided this investigation, which included researching four databases and screening the resulting titles and abstracts to identify the 17 sources of evidence included in the final analysis. For this reason, the objective of this scoping review was to report and map interventions, which are used in digital onboarding of first-year students in higher education institutions and explore the digital settings that characterized these interventions. Combined with the growth in distance learning and the rapid development in technologies, the onboarding process occurs increasingly in the digital setting. However, it was detected that online texts were more successful than F2F texts and students' achievement perceptions were higher in their Padlet texts.Įvery year, students around the globe embark upon their higher education journey, making the onboarding of these students a critical task for colleges and universities. the findings suggest that the online environment shone out with advantages, such as time, flexibility, supporting creativity through and multimedia tools, whereas F2F writing offered advantages in communication and simultaneous changes by group members. Thus, comparative evaluation regarding various components, such as writing processes, writing achievement, group interaction, creativity, and opinions of participants was performed depending on different data types. For the triangulation of the case study, texts produced F2F and online, video recordings of the F2F writing process and records of the group interviews conducted after the internet practice. This study for which criterion sampling was used included two different groups, both of which were formed with four people. The present case study aims to compare collaborative writing activities produced on the Padlet website on the internet and in a face-to-face (F2F) environment. The findings offer evidence that the virtual bulletin board promotes creativity and collaborative learning in classroom and optimizes the classroom performance. The results of the study indicated that the assessment via Padlet efficiently assessed the 4C’s for the Computing module offered to the undergraduate students. A total of 31 undergraduate students from a Private Higher Education Institution (PHEI) participated in this case study. The 4Cs consist of creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication. In response to these changes, this research aims to assess the 4Cs in the 21st Learning Skills using Padlet, an online virtual bulletin board that is gaining wide popularity in many Higher Education Institution. Furthermore, the students from the 21st Century are technology driven and have new approaches to learning. Due to the advancement in the technology, it is not an easy task to meet sustainability in education as identifying and deploying the proper tool as an educational and instructional tool is time-consuming and requires validation before it is widely implemented in the Higher Education Institution (HEI). In current classrooms, the students use various instructional technologies to synthesis new knowledge, collaborate with peers, critically solve problems, and make valid decisions to shine in the current, complex and globalized community. Emergence of Internet connected devices and globalization in education has paved way for the new discoveries in the 21st Century Learning.
